"Which day do you think it was?"

That smile that melts my heart, those eyes that I can not say no to, those lips that give me the sweetest kisses, the laugh that is so contagious and fills every room, those tiny arms that squeeze so tight and never let go first, the voice that is like nails on a chalk board and make me want to stuff cotton in my ears or better yet her mouth! Help Me!!!!! She is a whiner.

Definiton: Whine,whin·ing
1.to utter a low, usually nasal, complaining cry or sound, as from uneasiness, discontent, peevishness, etc.: The puppies were whining from hunger.
2.to snivel or complain in a peevish, self-pitying way.

3.For an example listen to Payton.

I love her to death but, she can't and won't stop. She is not a hungry puppy!! Any suggestions? Rob says it is my fault, that I have created this monster. What can I say, she is my baby and she knows it. We have tried everything to help our little problem. So, this week we are trying this: Payton drew a "Happy Payton" and a "Whining Payton", if at the end of the day she ends up on "Happy Payton", she gets a sticker. Which will lead to a prize if she accumulates a certain number of stickers. Boy does she hate it when she has to put up the "Whining Payton"! So far so good. I'll let you know if she ever gets her "Prize"!

"Friend or Frenemy?"

Don't these sweet girls look like sisters? Well, they are pretty close to it, they were born only 4 days apart. They are best friends and cousins! But, on the field they are "RIVALS" on opposite teams!!!! Or, they should be. When asked, "What are you going to do if your cousin and you each go for the soccer ball?" Response: "Let her have the ball!" Oh, isn't that sweet? No, wrong answer!! (we are a very competitive family). How do you tell your daughter to be aggressive and fight your opponent to get the ball, When all she has heard her life is to~ treat your cousin kindly, love her, stand up for her and always remember our Motto: "Family First". I know exactly how Maddie feels. I am so confused, I didn't want to sit on the opposite side of the field from my sister Michele and root against my niece. So, our families sat together during our first game on Saturday! And let me tell you there was some pretty, heavy competition! It got a little ugly! Not on the field, but in the stands. Who do you think cheered and yelled louder for their daughter, Me or Michele? I told you we were competitive. But, you know what they say, "A little competition never hurt anyone!" But, don't worry, what ever happens on the field stays on the field (and in the stands)!! Congrats Kate on winning your first game of the season. We will get you next time!
"The Loudest Moms In the Stands"

"Brownie Locks and the Three Bears"

You all know the Story of "Goldie Locks and the Three Bears", right? Remember how Goldie Locks tries Papa Bear' s chair and says, "This chair is too big", then tries Mama Bear's chair, "This chair is too soft", and finally tries Baby Bear's chair and says, "This one's just right!" Well, Payton had a "Brownie~Locks Moment", when she used this toilet, "Look Momma, This one's just right!!"

We love those tiny, bottom toilets that make our children think they were made especially for their cute tushes!

"Out with the Old, In with the New!"

I know, I know, Why do I still have a four and a half year old in a toddler bed? Because she is the baby (at least my baby anyway)! Well, this baby just grew up! Thanks to Allison and Sammy (I love the "Pay It Forward" concept, they got a new bed from her Grandma so we inherited their old bed). Payton spent her first official nights in a "Big Girl" bed this week. She didn't even fall out of bed once. The change couldn't have come at a better time. Payton came to my bed last night at 1:00 AM crying from an ear infection. Then again at 2, 3 and 4. Poor thing! Finally, after some Tylenol with Codeine,(I gave her some too) we both fell asleep in the "Big Girl" bed and slept peacefully until morning. Try sleeping in a toddler bed~ not so peaceful! Kudos to the new Bed!!!
(You can thank me later Rob!)

"Back to School Night!"

Here are two Poems by R.J. and Madison that we got to read at "Back to School Night".

It's so good to know that even in 5th grade R.J. still "Needs: Love, Care and Family"!

And it is every parent's wish that their child's desire for their "Final Destination is: Heaven", just like Maddie's. (Make sure to click on Poems to read better)

I love "Back to School Night"! It gives me a chance to get in good with the teachers. I am not embarrassed to admit that I do a little "brown nosing"! I love to volunteer for anything and everything. But, this year I have been instructed by Rob : if I am "Room~Mom" again this year, we are done! So, I will stick to volunteering once a week in the kids class rooms and "Year Book Staff" only!

I love my Year Book Lanyard that gives me all the access I want to any where in the school. Have you ever taken a picture of your child at a Friday Morning Flag Salute and you can hardly see their face in the picture because you are soooo far back in the crowd? Not me~ My child's getting "Student of the Week", no problem! "Excuse me, pardon me, year book rep. coming through, I need to get a close up of that cute, smart, well-behaved child (my child of course) for the year book. "Don't' be giving me a dirty look,(this is when I show them my Lanyard) I am "Year Book Staff, I need to stand in the front." And do not be crying to me if your child is not in the year book very much, you could have volunteered just like me! I think we are off to a great 2007-2008 school year already!

"Happy Birthday LOLO!!!!!"

To our Dear, Sweet Lauren on her Birthday:

"Will I get any sleep tonight?" Pt. 2

I can't believe they got us first! Who you ask?, The Young Men! They even had the gall to ring the door bell and flaunt their deed. Girl's are all about "surprise", we let you find it and then be shocked when you see it and say to yourself, "When did that happen, they are so sneaky, they got us good!" But not boys, they can't stand the anticipation. It's all about "right now" and instant gratification. So, we needed to beat them at their own game. We planned an attack! Without getting in to all the gory details, Let's just say, "Pay backs are_______!!!" (Bleep)

Just give a girl: water balloon, eggs, shaving cream, and 2 hoses with very strong nozzles and we will hold our own. "You mess with the bull, you get the horns!" And these girls saw red. Sorry Boys!!!!

"Will I get any sleep tonight?"

Here I am surrounded by some of my beautiful young women of my ward. We are having
"Youth Conference" this weekend! You can tell by their bright, shining faces that they are not tired and will want to entertain each other with anything they can think of so they won't fall asleep all night (toilet papering anyone?). Did I forget to mention It's a "SLUMBER" party and I'm hosting it! I don't know why everyone calls it that, because there is NO SLUMBERING allowed at these fun filled parties. The only thing I'm glad about is that I get to send them home tomorrow, I don't have to deal with their sweet attitudes (from lack of sleep) all day long. Sorry all you parents, I am apologizing in advance, I get to have all the fun with your daughters and you get to pay for it. Ah, the life of a Young Women Leader!

"The Shot Heard & Seen Around the World"

Barry Bonds of the San Fransisco Giants finally did it, he broke Hank Aaron's all time home-run record! Rob's license plate is finally true. You should have seen Rob and R.J. screaming and yelling when he hit it. Barry Bonds hit No. 756 to the deepest part of the ballpark Tuesday night, August 7. Bonds broke the record with one out in the fifth inning, hitting a full-count, 84 mph pitch from Washington's Mike Bacsik 435 feet to right-center field. These two boys could not have be happier. Go Giants!!!!!

"How many more times are they going to watch it?"

Here are my kids (and cousins) waiting not so patiently to see "High School Musical 2". They have been so excited all summer long! I must admit I was too! But, now I probably have seen it 5o times, and it just debuted last week (gotta love Tivo). We all loved singing in the car to the first "High School Musical" Sound Track . Sharpay and Ryan I mean, Madison and R.J. do a mean duet to the brother and sister song: "Bop to the Top". Just don't tell any of R.J.'s friends, he's too cool for musicals! Can't wait to get the new sound track!

"I am so spoiled!...or is he?"

Look what I found on my counter! Rob had a meeting in downtown San Diego and "needed" a parking validation from Horton's Plaza. So, I got a prize (I mean, we did). I love my Hubby and he loves me!!!

"So You Think You Can Dance?"

These are our two Prima~Ballerinas! We just started yet another Year at the San Elijo Dance Academy, after taking a blissful summer off.
Madison is in Primary Ballet 3. She will be attending Ballet two times a week now! She is so graceful. You know what those "So You Think You Can Dance" Judges say, "Ballet is the basis for all dance, you must be trained in ballet!" (Since I can't be on the show, they are the next best thing).
Payton is a "Ladybug" this year and will be "studying" Tap and Ballet. I have been dying for her to be on this level because of their academy uniforms, Red is her color, wouldn't you agree? (my favorite too). We are counting the days till their recital! Better watch out Sabra, these girls are talented!!!

Bend it like Beckham!!!!

Dr. Laura gives an example of when you do something that you don't really want to do at the moment it is called "making a sandwich". Well I am making a sandwich by blogging so hopefully Rachel will make a sandwich later on for me.

Instead of playing football, R.J. wanted to play futbol this year. At practice this week, he was jumping up to save a goal and he hit his thumb on the arch. (He did block the goal BTW). One of the mothers is an ER nurse and suggested we take him to the ER to get his hand checked out. We declined due to the lack of desire to spend the night at the ER and also, because he is playing soccer. Soccer players don't use their hands! He was fine and played in his first game Saturday.

After being 0-7 in his first season playing soccer and 0-13 last season playing football, it was nice to win 5-1. He has learned enough life lessons by losing dangit.
He may be a pretty good punter in football. After he kicked the ball, he would look around, give a little strut and pose for pictures like below. "Posh" er Rachel wasn't available for photos.

"I don't like that Lizard!"

Isn't this a cute picture of Payton? If you look real close you will be able to see a tiny, baby "Blue-Belly" Lizard in her hand. Zack the Cat brought us yet another present...the lizard. Payton does not share Madison's love for any and all animals (Maddie gets that from her Grandma Melendez). The lizard was unharmed and so cute! I was able to talk her into taking a picture with the sweet, tiny, baby lizard that "will not move in her hand!" And seeing that picture would make R.J. and Maddie so jealous! Well, she mustered up the courage and felt protected with her shirt covering her hand. She decided to take the risk and go for the praises of her siblings. The lizard had other plans, he wanted more lovin' from Payton so he jumped on her neck, down her shirt and tried to play hide and seek. After a blood curdling cry from Payton and a dance/run/convulsion, she was able to shake that pesky reptile with the help of mommy pulling him from her hair. I wish I did a before and after picture, she was not happy. After I calmed her down she said, "I told you I don't like that lizard." Sorry Pay, Mommy will listen next time!

Do you hear that? It's called silence...well almost!

The kids just finished their first week of school! I actually saw Mothers doing the "Happy Dance" on their front porches after kissing their children goodbye on the first day! But, not this mom. I am soooooo sad summer is over. Long gone are the easy wake ups and fend for yourself breakfasts, the outfits that consist of nothing more than a bathing suit, Payton and Madison sleeping in (R.J. still waking up early), the chore chart and actually having time to complete chores (using, "We are not going to the beach till all chores are done!"), my honest, dark suntan (not one that comes from a bottle or tanning salon), Rob playing hookie from work because the weather is so good, the Fire& Ice BBQs at the beach, Free Family Films at Edwards Theater, Josie's pool, Family vacations, Eating anything (because when you are tan you don't look as fat!) and spending more time with family! Now that school has started the house is a lot more quiet, except for pretty Payton. She asks me everyday, "where am I going today, why can I not go to school too?, when is summer going to stop?, I want to go to my Pre-School class now (she starts in September), when are R.J. and Madison coming home?, can Summer come over to play?, can we go out to lunch with daddy?, can I go to Kate, Emily and Andrew's house?" (In her sweet Rain-Man way). I promise you, she does ask me these questions everyday probably 4 times a day. Well, school has started, I can't turn back the clock. I just bought a new calendar for the school year and it is literally already filled up with the kids activities. The inevitable scheduling has begun. But you know, this is exactly what I signed up for in being my kid's mom and Rob's wife. I wouldn't change a thing. I thrive on chaos!

Dang You Utah Time Difference!

Dang you too Heather and Anne! Here I was being a good wife and waiting till my sweet hubby came home from a meeting to watch my favorite, "So You Think You Can Dance." (He's a closet SYTYCD fan) While waiting I was talking to Anne on the phone, She said, " Have you looked at Heather's blog? R.J.'s got a mention!" So I did. Needless to say, I hate that Heather is such a good constant blogger. Her blog blew the finale for me. Couldn't she wait till the rest of America could catch up? But, we are so happy sweet Sabra won. She had my vote from the beginning. "So You Think You Can Dance?" has been our summer obsession. And we are in mourning till next season. I was so thrilled to get tickets and see it taped live in person with my lucky sisters Michele & Marie, my cool Momma, Lauren and R.J. We had the best time and were able to meet Sabra herself!! She is soooo tiny, R.J. is taller than her. Well, there's only one thing I will not miss about the show... Mary's loud scream!

I don't know what I've gotten myself into!

Hi, my name is Rachel and I am a Blogger!!! Should I join B.A. (Bloggers Anonymous) right now? Because I know I am going to regret this. I can already feel it taking over my life and I'm just getting started. I can hear the computer wars in my mind, "Rachel, how much longer are you going to be on my computer?" Maybe this will get Rob to fix the Lap Top or better yet, get a new one! Yes, I have finally done it! After constant asking from my family when I am going to start. I have joined you, I am a blogger and proud of it. Just don't get mad at me if I am not as creative, funny, quick, or constant as my fellow sister bloggers! There I feel better now, I can't wait to get started.
