"Fourteen"

Dear R.J.
Last Sunday you came home from church and said, "Mom, guess what I got today?" I couldn't guess and them I saw it. It was small, square and neon green...your first Church Dance Card! Nooooooo, are you really that old? Fourteen? I can't imagine YOU, my BABY, asking a girl to dance.
On Sunday you were also interviewed to be ordained a Teacher. I love how excited you get with these new milestones. And I am so impressed about how you honor and cherish your Priesthood.
You are growing up to quickly for my liking. You now stand a whole 4 inches taller than me at an astonishing 6 foot 1 inch. I really don't mind it because the top of my head is always showered with your kisses. You are still so sweet to your mama and never leave the house without saying, "I love you." I hope I never loose that!
You are a good son. You are a good student. You are a good athlete. You are a good brother. You are a good citizen. You are a good Grandson. You are a good example. You are a good friend. Always remember Who you are and strive to become better.
I feel like the time I still have with you is quickly slipping through my fingers. Pretty soon you will leave our nest to start new adventures on your own. But, I still remember so vividly the moments you came into this world. You were an adorable, BIG baby, with bright, blue eyes. Even though you are the size of a man, I can still see those bright, blue eyes that belonged to my sweet baby.
I love you sweet heart and I am so proud of the good man you are becoming! Always stay close to the Savior and your family and everything will be alright.
I know now that you are 14 you are going to wear that dance card out. You are going to have a blast at those dances and make a lot of new "Friends". But just remember, Save the last dance for me!
Love You,
Mom
